Legislators Attend Lab Launch For Government AI Testing

The lab will assess the risks and possibilities of artificial intelligence models.

Senator Mark Warner and Representatives Don Beyer and Gerry Connolly, all from Virginia, attended the opening of a new artificial intelligence (AI) lab this week. They joined the lab’s developers in launching this new technology testing facility. The lab is owned and operated by the non-profit organization MITRE, which will partner with the federal government to assess the risks and possibilities within the many AI models being developed for governmental use, using simulated environments, red-teaming, and “human-in-the-loop experimentation,” and other concepts.

“The vision for this lab really is to be a place where we can pilot… and develop these concepts of AI assurance—where we have the tools and capabilities that can be adopted and applied to the special needs of different sectors,” Charles Clancy, MITRE senior vice president and chief technology officer, said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they seek to provide oversight to artificial intelligence development.
  • For U.S. technology officials as they seek to reduce the risks associated with the use of AI.
